What is Self-Control?

Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit! Self-control is the ability to keep ourselves from doing things that we shouldn't do, or that wouldn't be good for us or for people around us.

Proverbs says that "like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control" (Proverbs 25:28). Self-control is a gift from God, and we can always ask him to help us have more self-control. The Bible also tells us that God will not let us be tempted beyond what we can handle, and that he will always provide a way out (1 Corinthians 10:13).

What isn’t always obvious is how to help them get these emotions under control.

What is the Fruit of the Spirit?

When you think of the word fruit, you probably think of something like an apple or a banana, right? Well when Paul talks about the "fruit of the Spirit" he is not referring to piece of fruit that you might eat with your lunch. What Paul has in mind here is what comes out of a person who has been filled with the Holy Spirit.
