For the last few weeks the name Tim Tebow has gained quite a lot of the mainstream media’s attention.  True, he’s the young starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos with a winning record of 7-1 so far this season, but it’s his faith in Jesus that’s causing the media fury! Mostly because when it’s faith / religion related, there’s going to be controversy!

Take for instance “Tebowing,” a newly coined word which describes the one-knee prayer stance that Tim Tebow unapologetically takes on the field after scoring a touchdown.  His respect, love and unabashed acknowledgement of the Lord’s sovereignty has taken [...] Read More

It’s been 12 years since the last time Kermit the Frog and his fuzzy friends appeared in theaters, a fact the new musical comedy The Muppets acknowledges and runs with. In the film directed by James Bobin (of HBO’s Flight of the Conchords) starring Jason Segel (who also co-wrote) and Amy Adams (Enchanted), members of the Muppet gang have fallen on hard times but reunite to save their beloved Muppet Theater, with the help of some human pals.

Buck Denver shares a poem he wrote about the meaning of Thanksgiving.

A Thanksgiving Poem
by Buck Denver

Turkey, turkey, on my plate
It looks so good, it tasted great!
I should have stopped, but it’s too late.
I can’t believe how much I ate.

As grandma tries to feed me more,
And Uncle Louie starts to snore
I find I’m lying on the floor
My pants are tighter than before.

Thanksgiving is a time of cheer,
Of thankfulness for friends so dear.
But please, Lord, if my prayer you hear,
Remind me to eat less next year.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. [...] Read More

When the headlines are dominated by such disturbing subject matter as the sexual misconduct issues at Penn State, many of us wonder what to say to our kids. Should we say anything at all?

As parents of two young boys, my husband and I feel this is an appropriate time to discuss the very sensitive subject of sexual predators with them. My husband has his degree in criminal justice and part of his studies included learning about the sexual exploitation of children. I trust him taking the lead in these types of discussions. I am actually pretty grateful that he wants [...] Read More
