Let’s face it, none of us are perfect. We are sinners, in desperate need of a Savior. There are things about us which we probably wouldn’t want strangers to know, much less the church friend who’s sitting next to us at church. Maybe we don’t even go to church…
When we tell our kids that God has created them for a purpose, have we forgotten that we were also created for a purpose? Have we forgotten that God WANTS to use us for His will? I know I forget. I forget that some of the most heroic men and women of [...] Read More
My son and I are Wizard of Oz freaks! We love the stories, and thoroughly enjoyed the stage production of Wicked when it came to town! When the previews for Oz, the Great and Powerful hit the screens a few months back, we wanted to be sure to see it during its opening weekend!
The synopsis of the movie reads like this: A mischievous magician gains the wisdom to become a powerful ruler after being swept away to a land of magic and mystery as director Sam Raimi and screenwriters Mitchell Kapner and David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole) explore the genesis of [...] Read More
This week as my son was home sick in bed, I thought I would treat him to a new DVD. Wreck It Ralph was released to DVD this past Tuesday. An animated Disney flick, that I really had no interest in watching, but thought my game-loving son might.
Truth be told, I enjoyed Wreck It Ralph as much, if not more, than my boy! I was transported back to 1984, when our choice for Friday night fun with friends meant going out to the movies or the local arcade.

The Bible Series Extended Trailer – With Special Intro from Mark Burnett and Roma Downey from thebibleseries on GodTube.
About the Bible Series on the History Channel
Unlike other docudramas that depict stories from the Bible as little more than a nice collection of fiction, this miniseries was created and executive produced by renowned producer Mark Burnett (The Voice, Survivor, The Apprentice, Shark Tank) and Roma Downey (Touched by an Angel), two strong Christians, who believe the Bible to be the living Word of God. The [...] Read More
Escape From Planet Earth just released this past weekend, so while my husband took our oldest to the Nashville Predators’ hockey game, the youngest and I had a mom-son movie date night! After waiting in line, I couldn’t believe that the first evening showing on Saturday was actually sold out! Holy cow! I didn’t even know this movie was out! Looking over the titles and show times scrolling across the screen, I quickly realized that there were no other family-friendly movies showing at our theater, so we decided to wait the additional hour for the next showing of Escape. Besides, [...] Read More
When I was little, my parents taught us, through example, to help others in need and never hesitate when given the opportunity to share our blessings with those who were less fortunate. We were a working class family, so money was always a little tight. But amazingly, all of our needs were met, and we always had enough left over to help others. Whether it was the down and out guy on the street corner, the immigrant widow who didn’t know where her children’s next meal would come form, the sick or the elderly; many of whom have no one [...] Read More
The Super Bowl is an American tradition. Over the years it has become less of a true sporting event and more of a major television event. America eagerly awaits the star-studded half-time show and the assorted NEW crop of commercials; even the non-sports lover stays tuned in to view! Oh, and yeah, there’s a football game too! This past Sunday, 108 million Americans were a captive audience to some of the most distasteful ads ever televised. I guess I wouldn’t have such an issue with the pervasiveness of these ads IF a great many of those viewers [...] Read More
“I looked at the number on the scale, and I thought my life was over…” This comment was made just recently by singer, Jessica Simpson, after seeing what she weighed a month after giving birth to her second child. That comment hit me so strongly. Not just because I have struggled with weight issues myself, but because that comment has been heard by young girls (and boys) who honestly equate being overweight with being ugly, worthless and yes, on the same level as their life being over!
As I turned on my computer this morning, my AOL homepage had a story [...] Read More
